Who says Ray and J'Onn never hung out?!I was going to post something else today, but all of this Martian Manhunter business, and the lack of interaction between himself and the Atom got me thinking about the pilot. This pilot. And what could have been.I had posted a photo I had from this gem a few months ago, which can be found here free of charge. And here's another beauty (although it came without the helpful arrows and names which I've included for your ease). Would you just look at them.Obviously a great deal of work was put into crafting the perfect, versatile Atom costume in case it ever became the Justice League of American Gladiators. As I type this on going tribute to the cold-war friendship that has gone on between The Atom and The Martian Manhunter in an attempt to not only save one (and one who's not far behind I'm sure) and urge those in power to develop a kinship between these two, I must admit... this pilot and any evidence of it probably doesn't help.
But look at them (not a photo I own, courtesy of BeyondHollywood.com). They're destined for greatness together.
I really like this cover here, done by Brian Clarke. I get a very comfortable feel from it. Of course I'm very strange...
But seriously, what a beautiful picture! The JLA sitting around, playing the Flash board game. Just having a good ol time taking a break from the wear and tear of everyday super hero life.Anything missing?Well, rumor has it that after catching the Flash cheating (at his own board game) for the third time, and with Ollie stirring the pot, the Martian Manhunter, (who was apparently not doing so well) got up from the table and murmured ,"This is b.s., and that game sucks. I'm outta here."There's also tell of Aquaman, in a rare burst of on-land anger, heaving his chair across the room.I also suspect that no one knows Ray is actually even standing on the table. This was actually a very cool magazine to rifle through even aside from all the JLA goodness. It's from 1993, so it was fun to see what the kids were building waaaaay back then. There's a whole JLA custom section in it, and I just had to share.
First up we've got a Hawkman custom featuring The Atom!I believe this was made from a Superman aurora kit, and Carter looks pretty good.I don't know what the hell Ray is doing.Cheering Hawkman on?Raising the roof?Must be difficult for the man Hawk to fly around and stuff having to palm Palmer like that.Maybe he's practicing his table waiting skills...
Over here you've got custom Hal, Jonah Jones, and Arthur.Hal looks like he may be a nice custom.MM looks afraid. Now what the hell is Aquaman doing? Has he gone and tied some rope to a manta ray for skiing purposes? I just can't believe he did that.He always seemed like such a nice guy.He was always so quiet, kept to himself...

What the...
The Martian Manhunter up front and Batman squoze in behind!?Somebody call somebody! Whoever is responsible for this obviously did not get the memo. And The Atom has no face. Maybe it's a kewpie doll.Moving on, there's a custom Atom in the left hand corner! Looks like it may be a nice little figure, unfortunately the picture is so dark I'll just never know.If Pete Dibenedetto would like to send me this (and any other) custom Atom pieces, I will happily show them in full light on the T3.The Tiny Titan accepts no responsibility for lost or kept items sent to The Tiny Titan, unless you really, really want them back. But things get lost, yanno...
And last but not least, conceptualized superhero kits. Kits that these people think should have been made.Sweet moses are they right. I'll take 10 of those Atom's. That Aquaman would be fantastic as well I would think. Who wouldn't want a Jonah Jones kit?Flash and GL get quite enough, thanks. It goes to show (in 1993 anyway) that there are other people out there whom demand B-list merchandise! It's cool though, keep churning out different variations of the same group forcing people to make their own crap.

Look no further, Ray Palmer is here... for the time being. Palmer and company attempt to retrieve some weapons that were stolen from the JLA Trophy Room (!) and have to go to Qward to get them! This is the first part of 2 from that wacky JLA Classified. This issue is admittedly a lot of fun and Green's work is impressive (although The Atom does look kind of like a wood elf). It's nice to see the old gang hanging around toughing things out, and some of the banter between the team is great.
There's some of the craziness. Click on that mother to see a larger version of wood elf and friends.
Recently I was engaged in a conversation regarding the wonder that is the potential upcoming JLA film, which will almost certainly be sans Atom, and it led to this.
For starters, holy crap. Actually, for starters let me say that the scanner isn't working because children thought it would make a nice seat, so when someone plasters their logo or whatever across something, it's going to stay there unless I can find a better picture online.
Now, holy crap.
I purchased this here photo from the 1997 Justice League tv pilot, for obvious reasons. That's not the new American Gladiator... that's Ray Palmer.
Anyone who's ever even seen the cover of a JLA comic... or any comic for that matter, can tell what a treat this thing is just by the pictures. But it really needs to be seen for the full effect.
I unfortunately do not own that photo there, but it needed to be put up. There are your heroes. That's Guy Gardner donning the blue GL suit. Don't tell me no, it is. I don't care what his outfit, hair style, or attitude is like. This show was based on something along the lines of everyday folk trying to lead their everyday lives whilst performing superhero duties. Sure, that's been done. And well. But here... The Atom, portrayed by the Cryptkeeper John Kassir, is generally thought of as having an above average intelligence, and a slight gift with technology. His whole super hero dealio is based on that. In this show, aside from having the worst costume to ever be put on a living thing in the history of mankind and a wee paunch to boot, he's a middling science teacher who cannot repair everyday appliances. And J'onn J'onzz (not pictured there), portrayed by a fairly capable actor in David Ogden Stiers, is rotund. It never aired in America (what!) but if you're hungry enough, you can score yourself a copy. And you're hungry. It's your civic duty.
While I'm attempting to get things in order around here, I figured I'd start off with something that while fairly common, basically sums up what one must go through to get their hands on an abundance of items featuring The Atom. All the more fun doing your shopping online.
This is a shirt I had been checking out for a little while, but I could never get a decent enlarged image of it. The inclusion of the Hawkman or Ollie is usually reason enough for purchase, but I was kind of pissed that an item featuring Firestorm, Ralph, and a few other chuckleheads would be sans Palmer.
Yet this past weekend at the Hotel Penn comic con, I saw the shirt and had everyone step back so I could give it the full Atom search.

There he is! Hanging out on Batman's shoulder. His blending in with J'onn J'onzz's strappage doesn't help. Now of course I drew the usual funny look from the vendor who slowly shuffled over to offer his help (right before shouting for some) and I informed him I had found what I was looking for.
Of course some may ask that if I need a magnifying glass to see someone on my shirt, is it really worth it?
Don't be silly.
Incidentally, in looking at stuff to put up on here, I stumbled across some Jose Luis Garcia Lopez stock art, of the same picture, and there's the Atom clear as day. Putz.
I'd also like to point out that my super awesome banner was graciously done for me by Rob Kelly of the aquaman shrine, the JLA satellite, and various other bloody brilliant bloggery.
Do yourselves a favor and check out his work.
